Birgit Olson

IRIS Consultant

Care Responsibilities: I provide IRIS Consulting Services to participants in the IRIS program.

Specialties: Throughout my career, I have worked with adults and children with a broad spectrum of abilities. I particularly enjoy working with seniors and love hearing their life stories!

My favorite part of the IRIS program is that we believe so strongly in self-determination. The best part of being an IRIS Consultant is getting to know people and supporting them in making choices about how they want to live their life.

County/Region I’m familiar with: I am familiar with the west side of the state, from Madison to La Crosse and down the river. My office is between La Crosse and Prairie Du Chein.

Languages or Communication Skills: My first language was German, and I speak it fluently. I can read and write it a bit as well.

I’m comfortable with pets in the home: Yes.

More about me: Prior to working her Advocates4U, I was an IRIS Consultant and Long-term Functional Screener for another agency. I’ve worked as a case manager for the homeless and as a home visitor for Head Start. Prior to that, I was a licensed childcare provider for many years while my children were young.
